Biography

Gail Whiteman is Professor of Sustainability at the University of Exeter Business School. She is a social science expert on translating global risks from the natural environment into the corporate boardroom and policy arena. She is also the Founder of Arctic Basecamp, a not-for-profit science communication platform organization registered in the Netherlands. She works closely with the World Economic Forum, is a past member of the Forum’s Global Futures Council on Frontier Risk (2020-2022), and was a keynote speaker at Davos in 2020, “What’s at Stake: The Arctic,” alongside Sanna Marin (Prime Minister, Finland) and Al Gore.

In 2021, Gail organized and participated in the High Level Panel with TIME Magazine as part of WEF's media program for the online Davos Agenda, together with HRH Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, among others. She has over 60 peer-reviewed publications. She is also the Professor-in-Residence at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development.
