On behalf of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) division, formerly Gender and Diversity in Organizations (GDO), I encourage you to submit your paper and symposia proposals for consideration for the Academy of Management meeting in Boston, MA, USA, 4-8 August. 

The conference theme is “Putting the Worker Front and Center,” which is extremely relevant to today’s struggles for workplace and societal justice and equality based on racioethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, colonialism, religion, and ability. This is a crucial topic to pursue, not least in the post-pandemic world and in relation to growing socio-economic inequalities that disproportionally affect migrant workers, workers in precarious employment, and living in unstable and precarious institutional contexts. 

We DEI scholars are well-suited to focusing on workers in organizations as we focus on documenting inequalities and providing evidence-based solutions to combating injustice and discrimination at all levels and in all kinds of occupations across the world. Examples include surfacing the impact of organizational policies, practices, and discourses on marginalized groups, including critical examinations of the seemingly neutral assumptions underlying them and their differential impact on social groups. Please see our division’s domain statement. In line with this year's theme, we encourage work that addresses inequality and discrimination as experienced by workers but also prescribes a better way forward for organizations to center the interests of workers at different hierarchical levels and in different locations, such as subsidiaries of multinational firms or the supply chain. I hope our division can lead the way in this regard, and I look forward to seeing how our submissions address this important theme. 

The DEI Division recognizes the high quality of our conference papers through the annual awards of the Dorothy Harlow Best Paper Award, the Best Paper Based on a Dissertation Award, the Best Student Paper Award, and the Best Transnational Research Paper Award. We also have two award opportunities focused on the intersection of entrepreneurship, diversity, equity and inclusion, sponsored by the Kauffman Foundation. The Submission Center opens 6 December 2022, and the Submission Deadline is Tuesday, 10 January 2023 at 17:00 ET (GMT-5/UTC-5). Scholarly sessions will take place on Monday, 7 August 2023 and Tuesday, 8 August 2023.
